Hey Puff

Im looking to get one with the TomTom Sat Nav module.

When using Sat Nav do you need a line connetion? Ie the mobile dialling up to somewhere???

What do you think of the XDA2?

Cheers

No, it doesn't make a GSM/GPRS connection whilst accessing the data from the GPS unit. GPS is a receiver, so it receives transmissions from the GPS satellites, triangulates them and sends that data as positional to the XDA

I personally like the XDA2 as a "tool". I have specific needs for one and am doing some dev work for an application. I think the phone is not as good as could be. I think PPC2003 has a lot of bugs. The BlueTooth stack is not fully implemented, so (out of box) doesn't work with BT GPS receivers and BT Car Kits. There will be a ROM update shortly, so they say.

Lots of bug-fixes and other useful info on http://forum.xda-developers.com inc BT GPS stack upgrade details (not for car kits yet though) + Unlock program/instructions

There does seem to be a rarity of them atm. Demand out-stripping supply. I *think* that corporate channels have better access than shops as I know O2 can supply direct this way within 48hrs.

Don't forget it is the same as a T-Mobile iMate, so maybe worth having a look into. I don't know anything regards that angle though.

www.expansys.co.uk is an obvious place to try.

Thanks for the info.

Looks like they are pretty sparse at the moment but I guess they will start mass producing soon enough.
