Backing up DVDs with a Philips DR75
Does anyone know if it is possible to make a backup copy of a DVD film using one of the Philips DVD recorders such as a DR75? Can I connect a laptop to the recorder and record what the laptop is playing?
Anythings possible really but you'll lose some of the DVD quality.
If you have a TV-Out facility on your lappy, you simply hook it up to the telly and record with the Philips as you would normally do.
This is how a lot of multi 'home movies' are made, squeezing up to 6 hours video onto a disk, using the long play feature.
For all a burner and external enclosure would cost (£110), you might consider this as a more straight forward option.

I presume that I would loose the 5.1 surround when doing a backup this way?
Been thinking about just getting an external burner, I use a Mac so maybe the Lacie firewire is the way to go.
Cheers,
