is there a way to have a systray icon for the program instead of the normal icon/bar on the middle of the taskbar?

btw, do you have any recomendations for IRC scripts? i don't something fussy as i just have it connected most of the time i'm online but rarely use it?

Yep, go to "DCC" menu, "Options", then select "Display" and within that "Tray". Check the relevant tick box.
