Need a starter chip for a second processor on an old (understament I know) Compaq 5100 Professional Workstation?
It is going to be chucked but I thought I could use it as a basic server (at home) if I can get a second processor running on it. However can not find a starter chip for the second slot anywhere
Would anyone have a spare one of these floating about?
Please let me know if you do

According to Compaq (well HP now ) the 5100 Professional Workstation has a dual processor board and is compatable with 2 cpu's.
I am still strugling to find out what a starter chip is though. Is it similar to a vram module for a xeon chip that controls voltage to the cpu? I onlt found this out the other day when swapping some over

Yeah I know it works with only one processor. I only want to try and get it working though if its got both processors running. But its not just a case of whacking the second processor in the spare slot, it needs the starter chip that sits next to the processor slot (might be known as the vram module - its whatever the chip is that sits next to the processor on dual processor boards as I've only known it to be called the 'starter chip')
