argh! bootmagic problem

ok had bootmagic installed on win xp and setup to select either xp or win2k, tried to uninstall and it was saying couldnt find in orignal place etc, ive now formatted the xp partition but it wont let me install bootmagic saying its already installed on another partition.... but its not,
basically do i need to find some file which is tellin the pc that there are remnants of bootmagic still on the system somewhere?
