Hi guys,

I have an Epson PC800 digi camera & have found that the software I have with the camera won't work on XP, I've searched the net & can't find an upgrade patch or anything that could help, so I was wondering whether I could use a card reader to get my pics from the camera?
It uses a compact flash card.
Where could anyone recommend going to get a card reader, whats the best type etc, etc

Jon.

P.S.........I'm not that good with all this computer jargon, so plain english answers if you please.!!

Unless the camera writes the image file in a bizarre a card reader will work, both the card readers i have use generic drivers so simple plug n play.

You can buy them from Jessops, PC World etc. You can get them for a single media type (Companct Flash / Smart Media etc.) or ones with several slots to handle different types.

On XP they will be plug & play, just plug into USB and after registering on the PC will appear as a drive letter in My Computer.

Dremel,

Check the following:

1. You have a free USB port on your PC
2. Go to Jessops and buy this (listed at £19.99 but I bought mine in store for £10.99)
3. Plug into PC and then plug CF card into reader.
4. Browse for the card (appears as another hard disk)
5. Drag and drop images off the card onto actual hard disk.
6. Sit back and smile to yourself

(P.S. That reader is USB 2 and backward compatible with USB 1, so if your PC has USB 2 port it'll be mighty fast but doesn't matter if it isn't)

Cheers

Ian
