Optimum DivX encoding rate

What's people's opinion on the "best" data rate for encoding with DivX.
I've experimented with a couple (of home movies to which I old all rights obviously) and around 2000 Kbits/sec seems to produce acceptable results and keep the file size manageable. i.e. about 1.5 Gb for a 1 1/2 hour (home) movie.
