Hi all,

I've just borrowed a DVD-Rom that I wish to do a straight copy of. (It's actually a SatNav Europe DVD). But the data on the disc amounts to 5.42Gb, and blank DVD's are only 4.7Gb.

Can you get higher capacity blank DVD's ? And will I be able to write to them with my Sony DW-U14a DVD Writer ?

I'm a little worried as I've only got this DVD for tonight !

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Yeah I'm gonna do that - I just wanted to do a 'blind' 0:0 write rather than just copy files over.

Oh well.

Thanks

You can get many singel and double sided DVD's of many size's, check out www.lemonmedia.co.uk, they have some good info on here and you can also order, bit pricy though!

no you cant get a larger sized dvd..

. . . because it'll be an original pressed DVD9 (9Gb capacity).

Currently the only recordable DVD media is approx 4.5Gb capacity. Dual layer will be available soon.

Can't you remove anything from it to make it fit on a DVD-R ?

Because doublesided (i.e. upt 9GB) DVD can be produced commercially and readers know how to read them - but writers and media are not yet available for home use....
