I got an Xbox for xmas and am wanting the best sound and picture quality from it.I have an optical input on my TV and one on my 5.1 digital decoder.First question,if I buy an optical cable will it sound much better than normal using the supplied RCA leads?
Is it worth buying the advanced scart cable too for better picture quality? Is it a noticable improvement?
A quick answer would be appreciated as I'm gonna nip out and buy em now if it's worthwhile?
Thanks in advance
Nick

Definitely worth doing
I have the advanced scart and optical cable on mine and the difference in picture and sound is outstanding. Superb on THX and Dolby Digital games

Thanks Dunk.....
Best for me to go for the official MS cable then?
Or Gamestation has a third party one with S-Vid and optical cable for same money?
I don't mind paying the extra for the better quality assumin there is a difference?
Cheers

I got mine from some mail order place in hong kong. wroks great - also gives me S-Video output which I needed for my AV Amp.
Toys-R-Us are doing a Wheel/Pedals + Controller + Advanced scart (with both S-Vid, RGB, Coaz + Optical dig audio out) for £19.99
A different make AV lead shouldnt make any diff. Its just converting the dig output from the xbox into an optical one. (cue the hi-fi nutters muttering about jitter blah blah affecting the "tone" blah blah so you need to spend £200 on a polished optical interconnect blah blah )

Cheers.....
I bought the advanced scart lead from Toys R Us for £16.99 (£3 off in sale) and then bought an optical cable from Maplin. The difference in picture quality on my 42in rear projection TV is really noticable and I can definitely recommend the advanced scart to anybody thinking of doing the same.Makes PGR2 much more crisp and the buildings are soo much sharper now!!
