Right Ive had enough of you lot raving about Project Gotham Racing 2, Moto GP etc so its time to buy myself an Xbox. Anyone know of any good deals at the moment?

Dont mind 1 or 2 decent games only as I like to dedicate my time to one and get the most out of it.

Would like the Xbox, 2 controllers (are there better controllers to go for or is the MS standard handset the one to have?) and something like PGR2. Cheapest Ive seen is £129.99 but with only the one controller.

Cheers,
Simon.

Someone mentioned Toys R Us doing some better deals - only thing with the TRU deals was some of the games you get are really naff.

I got mine from Game with PGR2 and Halo for 139.99, then bought additional controller and advanced SCART lead separately.

One thing I've learnt is NEVER buy the dodgy third party SCART leads, they tend not to produce as good a picture colour wise and the shielding can be less than adequate.

There are other racing games coming out for the Xbox as well, theres one that goes by the (working title) Codename:Juice. Think Need Fore Speed:UG crossed with GT series and the visuals of PGR2.

I got same deal as DrEvil that's pretty good, as Halo is wicked game as well and if it goes wrong they're normally pretty good at sorting it out without a fuss. I am on my second one in a month! Disc got stuck in it.

Got mine from Game couple of weeks ago... think it was £185 for Xbox, Halo, Midtown Madness 3, PGR2, and Need for Speed Underground... they do some deal where you get Xbox with Halo and Midtown Madness for £140 and then can get discount on up to two full price games. £20 for DVD controller is a rip off though.

totally agree about the dvd, but apparently it's something to do with the licencing...

I reckon it is worth getting it from game, as they give you a loyalty card, then send out vouchers..

Can you buy xbox's pre-chipped and modded etc?

Edit: because I got of my lazy backside an answered my own question!

Is it hard to do this yourself, or would it be less hassle all around to just buy one with it all already done for you! £199 is a bit steep though.

Thumbs up

this is where i got my chip from http://www.baldbouncer.co.uk/catalog/ fitted it myself. As long as you read up on what to do and take your time you should have no problems. Read what muppets do when it goes wrong and make sure you dont do what they did

Well Ive just got bored of the Gamecube and reckon I can get over £100 for it so an Xbox wont cost that much. Will wait until I have the cash for the Cube first though.

I didnt realise Xbox live had a monthly subscription. How much is it per month?

Simon.
