If I bought an Intel Centrino laptop, will it work on an existing wireless network?

Depends what type of exisiting wireless network you have and what type of wireless card is in the laptop, eg if they are both the same protocal then, yes it should work.

Proposed laptop says it has Intel Pro/Wireless 2100 802.11b Mini-PCI card - for Intel Centrino Mobile Technology.

Existing network is 802.11b.

Is it as simple as they are both 802.11b so will work?

The only difference with your Centrino lappy/notebook and a regular lappy is that the centrino will already be configured to utilise the mobile network service provided at the likes of BT phoneboxes etc.

It will still function the same as a normal lappy in every other respect.
