xp doesnt see my cd burner (at first!)

Installed xp pro after a couple of horrible weeks and now whenever i go into my computer my liteon 32123s isn't seen. If i go to install hardware it says nothing new is found but at this point the burner appears in my computer! Any ideas whats happening?

Check in Computer Management . . Disk Management.

It may be allocating a conflicting drive letter.

nope seems to be ok. It allocates e: to burner and d:to dvd but only after i look for it each time
