The difference between OEM products and retail products is packaging, extras and price.

OEM products do not come with cables, boxes (usually just come in antistatic bags) or extras (installation CD’s etc.) Alos OEM products are cheaper as normally you can only buying them when buying a new PC.

Retail products come with all cables, screws, nice fancy box and packaging, demos cd’s, demo software etc.)

If you were ot fit a new harddisk you would have to re-install Windows as the new disk would be empty. Just Boot from a CD (or Floppy Disk) and re-install Windows.

Worth nothing that the other disk will have all things like My Documents.
