No joke.
In Edge Magazine this morning - screenshots of a new game due for release in spring - "Richard Burns Rally".
It's obviously meant as a season 2004 game as all the shots had a Subaru in them, so what's going to happen now? Is that Colin McRae season '04 gag (gardening etc) going to be replaced with Burns' image and will colin mcrae rally be repackaged with possibly a subaru cover?

There is no comment yet on what will happen with the game...
Sounds bloody good an all...
How's this for detail: the car doesn't just move forwards when you press 'go', the physics engine simulates every combustion cycle of the engine, in order to replicate misfires or inefficient fuel burn.
The suspension has geometrically correct MacPherson struts, not wheel based crude approximations as commonly seen in other driving games and the cars also have active differential, which allows the wheels independent drive, depending on the surface the tyres are on.
Heat transfer in the brakes is also fully modelled, to allow for a drop off in performance as the brake pads and discs heat up with constant use. The thermostat controlled water pump measures the operating temperature of your engine, so put a hole in your radiator and it's only a matter of time before your engine overheats and you'll be going nowhere fast.

Official website here.
I've seen some of the work being done on this game and it does indeed look very good, better even than the screenshots and comments above suggest.
Haven't a clue what will happen in the light of RB's recent news. I'd imagine the game will still be released, although obviously the promotion will suffer. Ironically the original release date was planned to coincide with the Wales Rally GB a couple of weeks back, but longer development cycle put it back to next year. Probably just as well in the circumstances.
