My Mother has a PB PII or PIII (cant remember which) 600Mhz with a 10 gig HDD.
She is looking to use it for digi video editing so my question to you is, should I upgrade components or is it new PC time for her ? I would need to upgrade the HDD, Ram, DVD r, ( I have a firewire PCI card I can use for her)
What would you lot suggest as the best course of action ?
If it is a new PC where is best to buy the tower only ?

Video editing is hard work for a PC and you really need the latest hardware to make it fly.
With this in mind she would be best going for a new machine, at the prices Dell can turn out new machines it is probably the least expensive option and you get a warranty as well.
You might like to try the Dell outlet which could save you another few quid, you just have to watch and wait until the exact spec you want comes along. The outlet shop is here:
