Question

Hi Everybody!

Does anyone know, apart from "10" and about 30 quid, what is the difference between these two chipsets?

Just had a look on the Intel site and I'ts not clear to me

Cheers!

In theory, the 875 is the flagship Intel chipset for desktop class PCs. It features a thing called PAT which is meant to offer a tad more performance over the 865 through faster memory timings.

However, some motherboard manufacturers like Asus, Abit and others found they could do tricks with the 865 to make it perform almost as quick as the 875. This review is one example. It has some tests at the end which compare the 865, 865 in "Turbo" mode and 875.

Both support 800Mhz FSB P4s, dual channel DDR etc etc.
