First off asuming your xbox is chipped next assuming your using evox as your dashboard
Set up 1) Xbox to Pc no hub/switch or router
Items needed Chipped xbox running evox (or avalaunch or xbmp), Pc with nic, cross over cable.
Set up pc network to (and this is just a guide)
I.P 192.168.1.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Set up xbox network settings to
I.P 192.168.1.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Set Xbox on network with a router
Find I.P of pc's connected to network in my case this is
router 192.168.1.1
main 192.168.1.2
shuttle 192.168.1.3
download ***** 192.168.1.4
Set upbox up to a spare 192.168.1.X
so in my case 192.168.1.5
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway (addy of router) 192.168.1.1
Set Xbox on network with a hub or switch
Find I.P of pc's connected to network in my case this is
server 192.168.1.1
main 192.168.1.2
shuttle 192.168.1.3
download ***** 192.168.1.4
Set upbox up to a spare 192.168.1.X
so in my case 192.168.1.5
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway (addy of server aka machine connected to net) 192.168.1.1

Tried this but no luck
it keeps saying: connection failed (connection timed out)
I have a bluetooth dongle is this in anyway affecting it as it could be used for networking? Cheers.

I've got a blue tooth dongle too and have no hassles, you could try disabling it though, Start->My Network places-> View Network Connection then right mouse disable on the dongle one

Give us a clue as to how this X-Box is physically attached to your PC/Network ?
Is it a cable straight to your network card ? Or to your router/switch ?
Router = Straight through cable
To PC = Crossover cable

Okay . . . so the subnet and gateway match on both machines ?
Both machines have IP's that are different, but the first 3 parts are the same ? ie. 192.168.0.2 & 192.168.0.3 ?

Assuming it is switched on (to EvolutionX) and connected to your PC's network card . . .
Are you using XP ? If so, switch off the built in firewall, go to My Network Places, Add A Network Place, X-Box IP as the Internet adress (ftp://192.168.0.*), username=xbox.
Open it and see what happens . . . password=xbox.

Off out to the dog racing and plenty of lager now mate, sorry
Make sure you save your settings before exiting the settings screen in Slayer and all should be fine. If not, drop me a mail
