Shared worksheet in Excel 2K. Comments which have been entered into a particular cell appear to have duplicated themselves into other cells that already had their own comments, adding to the comments already there.
Is it possible that a user has inadvertently duplicated these comments (using copy/paste for example), or some other rational explanation?
Is there a way of finding out which cell a comment was originally applied to, and if so, is there any way to purge the surplus comments from the worksheet without having to do each one manually (sheet contains in excess of 4000 rows and probably 2000+ have comments)
Thanks

Another quick question on a similar theme.
Is there any way of forcing comments to appear next to the cell they relate to, rather than at some random position joined by a callout line?

Hmmm, tricky ones.
If you do Tool, Options, View, Comment Indicator Only . . . then the comments are displayed next to the cell regardless of whether someone has moved them or not. Although, they only appear when you hover over the cell.
Edit: Apart from that the ability to manipulate comments is pretty limited in Excel 2000

Thought as much Just printed the comments for the sheet - 78 pages
If I set that flag for the comment indicator and go to edit a comment, will it open next to the cell?
Duh, suppose I could try it and see
