Hi there,

that is just a part of it there is more.

my OS is XP home and the pre installed "record now" prog.
The Drive itself didnt come with a driver disk. I just plugged it in to the IDE and it was found automaticaly. I have since tried the Nero burning software that came with it but to no avail
I cannot think of any updates I have made / downloaded since installing the drive
The fact it worked fine enough to burn 15 or so DVDs previously and will still burn CDs leads me to think it could well be a fault with the drive ??
It has been causing critical device driver errors on start up of the PC too
I have uninstalled the drive and it doesnt seem to be conflicting with anything in Device Manager.
There is a firmware update avalible on the BTC website but it has the warning not to download unless told to do so as it could **** up the drive so I am awaiting a reply from BTC as whether to go ahead with it or not.
Any thoughts bearing in mind it still burns CDs happily ??

Question

When you said it had burnt 15 or so dvds were they all yellows? and now the oranges are not burning.

Had an old pioneer a04 drive, burnt anything. Now got a new sony drive and it will not burn the bulkpaq's - gives the power calibration error. It will burn the yellows and anything with a ritek dye. Just plain fussy Plus the bulkpaqs aint that great in some dvd players.

Dave.

it burnt the yellow ....and then didnt
it burnt the orange .....and then didnt

The drive tries to work awat but the light flashes orange and then out pops the disk

So it will show a power cal. error if the disk is not compatible ?

The volume dial on the front of the drive is purely for headphone use, has no effect on anything else

Hi Paul

What've i told you all this time about sh!tty Princos!
Someone mentioned the Sony DRU is a picky drive, the BTC's similar in that it's choosy what media it will reliably burn.
If you can take it back to a shop, do that. I'll sort you out with a 106
If it's Nero 5.5 or under you'e tried using, it doesn't seem to like DVD burners.
Is it Record Now MAX you're using to burn DVD-r? If not, it might be worth 'paying' for the upgrade.

You said you're on holiday this week. Want me to pop up and take a look? I'll be seeing you at some point anyway.

Paul

PS Are you trying to burn a disk on-the-fly or from an image on your PC?
