My MD is off to the states on Monday and wants to be able to get his emails whilst there...with his IPAQ (3970) using his Nokia 6310 as modem....via bluetooth

Can anyone recommend an ISP in the states that he will be able to use?
And more importantly...if this setup will work

I have occasionally used an ISP called Budget Dialup they work on a pre-paid basis so there is no monthly charges you just buy minutes up front. They give you a 3 (or it could be 5) hour free trial.

The setup you describe should work, I sometimes use my Ericsson phone connected to a PC via IRDA.

If he's dialing via his mobile you may as well just use a UK ISP - unless he's using a US cell phone. Calling a US ISP from a UK mobile being used in the US means the cost of the call would be 1) call from US to UK and then back from UK to US. That is very expensive.

Calling a UK ISP would mean just the cost for one transatlantic charge.

Make sure the phone is a tri-band - so it works in the US. Be aware that it won't work everywhere either.

If you're setting up the ISP dial in details on the PDA make sure you add the country code +44 and drop the zero else is won't work.

Be prepared for huge costs too. It's a real rip off
