Anyone run Linux on their XBOX ?
#1
As a little project I was thinking of sticking linux on an XBOX (I don't own one yet).
Along with that, I'd add the typical stuff like...
usb hub > keyboard, mouse
linux email client & web browser
WiFi access point (I hear all XBOX's have NICs)
I've got cable broadband, so I was wondering if anyone who's done this to recommend some compatible wifi hub / access point equipment?

Apparently its a relatively simple process now the system has been cracked.
Essentially you're getting:
Celeron 700MHz
GeForce3 MX
64MB
8 or 10GB Hard Disk
Lan Card
Which I thought would make a nice little Linux box to surf the net and send/receive emails with.
Has nobody tried it yet ?

I believe Gedi has got Linux on an X-Box. Mines chipped, got 120Gbb and uses Netgear Wireless kit for FTP access and XBConnect/X-Link. One of the best PC's you can get for the money

I have the Matrix (Xodus) solderless chip. Its one of the earlier, and more straight forward chips, no soldering either, so even I can install it Easy to flash update via EvolutionX or the provided LPC programmer.
Current fave is the Xecutor 2 Pro/Lite. Take a looky here if you are interested. They come in solder or non solder versions.
There are a shed load of new chips coming out all of the time, but as far as I can tell they are really if you want to get fancy with mult-bios etc.

Yep, I also used the matrix.
I used the EvolutionX 2.5 BIOS and the EvolutionX dashboard.
As for the mouse and keyboard, I cut my 2 joypad wires and bought 2 female connectors and 4 male (can't remember the part nos now) and wired them in accordingly. ( I have wiring diagram somewhere) Then you can use either the joypads when gaming, or mouse/keyboard when hacking linux.
