Can anyone help?

I have a spreadsheet which has a column with 500 rows in. I want to quickly copy these 500 rows and paste them across in columns.

eg
COLUMN 1
A
B
C
D
E
F
G
.
.
.

to become

A B C D E F G ......

eg A in column1, B in column2, C in column3 etc...

Can this be done in excel with a cut and paste command that I don't know about?

Thanks

Thumbs down

I reckon you're stuffed. A worksheet in Excel can only have 256 columns.

I guess you could split the list into 2 sheets. Select 250 columns on a new sheet, hit F2, type formula =TRANSPOSE(Sheet1!A1:A250) then press ctrl+shift+enter. This enters the formula as an array formula.

HTH

Mark

Yep you'd have to have 2 rows.

You just need to select & copy the cells going down (select up to 256 of them) then click in the cell to the leftmost of where you want to start the paste and do Paste Special + tick Transpose

Shame about the 256 limit but I can live with that for now....
