All worked fine and can't think I've changed anything. However, today when opening a document (any document) the computer just does a reset after a few seconds of viewing it. I have used the repair feature and also reinstalled Word, the same happens. Is this a known problem? Virus killer is up to date with today's updates, just doing a full scan. Is this a classic macro virus? Other Office apps are OK.

Done defrag, virus scan, removed office completely and reinstalled it and it still happens! It is like what happened with a previous Athlon when it overheated - just spontaneous reset, however, I can run far more demanding stuff than Word without problems. Puzzled. The thought of reinstalling the whole system is a complete nightmare.

Managed to get a BSOD with STOP 0x0000001E KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED with reference to kmgi.dll
Searches on this are vague on solutions, can't find anything re Word.

try doing a search on kmgi.dll
Look at properties of this file, version info, product info.
What does this tell you?
Give you any further insight?
I did a quick search on MS support for kmgi.dll but no exact match.
Perhaps this links to some recently installed software, if it does uninstall it. Does this then stop the problem?
