XP home edition (re-install ) have a problem

getting a problem on PC (xp home edition)
when trying to add/remove a program i get an error
"parser message value creation failed at line 472"
system seems to run fine apart from above,
if i was to format HDD and start again is there a way i can export my setup info to save the register with MS in 30 days thing and end up phoning them to confirm.
