nec dvd-r problem!!!

You shouldn't need any drivers. If you go into your bios, check that the IDE channel is set to AUTO so it recognises the drive.

What you could try is ehe trial version of Nero 6 avaliable from the link below :-
http://www.ahead.de/en/nero-prog.php
This will only burn at single speed IIRC, but it is better than nothing, and if it works fine, then you can either look for alternatives, or purchase a copy of Nero 6.
I would un-install the old version of Nero also.

Do as Ian says above, although, the drive you have just bought will not necessarily work if Nero are not supporting it.
Check on Nero website or I think the list is contained with your installed software.

i removed nero again n removed all instances from my registry then installed nero 6 which works lovely
then i installed dvd x copy and it ****ed it all up! pc wouldnt detect dvd drive in windows at all! so took that back off n it allworks fine again
so if u get a nec 1300 dont use dvd x copy as its drivers conflict or something.
