Running Windows ME

Those little icons at the bottom right of the screen, the ones that tell you whats running. Well sometimes i can see them, sometimes i mouseover and then they disappear one by one as i mouseover them and sometimes its all ok and they stay

Whats going on... i dont think its a virus as ive run several virus scanners/adaware/spybot type things and found nothing.

Any ideas?

 

It's an option in the taskbar i believe.

 

Explorer isn't crashing is it (I don't mean Internet Explorer, but Windows Explorer)?

When Windows Explorer crashes, some of those icons can disappear.

 

Thanks guys but it doesnt sound like any of the above.

Even programs STILL running disappear. If i run the cursor over every icon they will all go or they will all stay.

Not sure about the Windows Explorer thing Could you eloborate on this please?

 

Not sure about ME but in XP they auto-hide. Could be the answer ??

 

I have XP at work and youre right they do hide.

But at home on my laptop they disappear, last night they stayed, but sometimes they go for good.

Also, the icons on the bottom left seemed to be whited out, ie, you can see the shape but they dont have any colour
