I have a friend at work who has this problem on her bt broadband and is considering taking it to pc world for a "healthcheck" which ive obviously told her not to do cos anybody can run scandisc for for cheaper than £40
When clicking the main btopenworld connection icon it normally comes up with the connection speed etc. Since using a system recovery disc to refresh the system clicking on the icon displays the error "APPLICATION ERROR cannot create entry btopenworld"
Any ideas?

Has she called BT's technical support desk? Check all her connection settings first though... what did she do that stopped it from working in the first place...

Me: Hello - I would like to use an ADSL router with built in modem and 4 port hub instead of a modem. Do you supply these?
BT: Sorry sir - There is no point in doing this as you will need a modem anyway. It would be cheaper to buy a hub and plug it into the modem.
Me: Sorry - I seem to have reached the canteen - can you put me through to technical support please?

She would have been given a complete installation disk. Delete the entire BT Modem Dialup software and reinstall from scratch...
On the funny notes regarding helpdesks.. I called ours at work the otherday as I revoked myself and the guy that answered had his toddler on his lap who was babbling into his mouthpiece!
