I have deleted an e-mail out of MS Outlook and could do with getting it back.

Is there anyway to do this? I have a program (easy recovery pro) that can recover files even after a Hard Disk has been formatted (know it works because I have tried it ) would it find e-mail files? What type of file are they?

Is it not in the deleted items folder.
If it's not then i'm pretty sure it's gone

Anyone know what the file extension name is for an e-mail? Say you wanted to copy/save an e-mail somewhere what would it be called?

If you are using any version of Outlook which isn't Express, ie 97/98/2000/2002, then this should work (unless you've recently compacted the PST file. I've used this method successfully to recover items a couple of times. If you don't know what a hex editor is, then get a friend round who does. And remember always take a backup of your PST file before continuing.

hhmmmmmm........well I have had a go but on the web site it says delete positions 7-13 but I ain't sure what part that exactly is. I am opening up a copy of my .pst file but not sure if I am deleting the correct part or does it not matter?

Don't know anyone who knows about hex editors etc

Move the cursor position to byte 7 and then tap spacebar to overwrite the contents of bytes 7 through 13. Save and close; then get ScanPST to do it's thing.

thanks for that mate, was already looking at it not that I am any further forward. I just don't really know what I am looking at/what I should be deleting.

Says to delete 00007, 00008 etc etc I can see a 0000700 in the left hand column (using hex workshop 4.1) then has another 14 columns of numbers/letters etc to the right of that but have no idea what to do???? I know I am thick but think will have to give up!

thanks for help anyway.
