Was working OK on Friday, AFAIK nothing has changed since

If a user attempts to connect using a VALID username and password combination, gets rejected with bad username or password error.

I can log onto the local machine using any of the username/password combinations.

What could be preventing them from logging on?

Have you tried changing their log in details on the server?

Is this XP box a member of a domain?

Are you trying to connect remotely using a domain username/password?

The ones you've tried locally at the PC, are these local workstation accounts or the same domain usernames?

Check the local event viewer and also the one on the domain controller for error messages.

Check the workstation is still in the domain and has a valid workstation object in the domain.

So far have not tried changing anything.

The PCs are in a workgroup. The XP box they are trying to connect to has accounts and passwords matching those of the remote users.
