what is the difference between SDRAM & DDR SDRAM?

As scunnered says, DDR stands for "double data rate" - meaning you get double the data per cycle. It's quite a bit faster.
It gets more confusing when you get 2100 ram or all the other different speeds. Make sure you get the right one for your mobo.
