what is the difference between SDRAM & DDR SDRAM?

sdram is really old and what the 1st pentiums ran on ddr ram is the new stuff but its the speeds what count for which is the best

DDR (Double Data Rate) as the name suggests is much faster.

As scunnered says, DDR stands for "double data rate" - meaning you get double the data per cycle. It's quite a bit faster.

It gets more confusing when you get 2100 ram or all the other different speeds. Make sure you get the right one for your mobo.

also more pins on DDR; you can't use DDR on a non-DDR mobo.

Mate of mine is just re-building his PC, but he's got 2Gig of SDRAM, and didn't want to buy any more really......
