Is it clicking as if making a call or receiving?

Someone ringing you/a wrong number maybe?

Check that you haven't got an email account set to use the dial up connection.

...But I am not it using to access the net, the only thing that I use the modem for is faxing, and that is set to manual receive.
could someone be trying access my PC? I use BB for th'internet,I think the the only firewall I have is what comes with the router, and I'm not even sure if that is set up.

Every now and again I will hear the modem clicking as though it is connecting or disconnecting, any suggestions, am I being hacked ?

cheers,

mike.

I had an email addy that was set to connect via "any available", I have changed it now to LAN. Would I not see the little green flashing puters if It had dialled up? also I would have though I would have got the dial up dialogue box.

you will not see the dial-up dialogue box if the account was set to connect automatically. Don't know about the connection icon, but possible it does not show when the connection originated from OE

I'll never know unless I change it back to test it - also installed zone alarm this morning and had no reported intrusions.

Not heard any clicking for a bit anyway.
