Question

I just want to connect my desktop to lappy (with net access), do I just need a PCI & PCMCIA cards or do I need to buy a router too? Anyone know where the best package deals are??

It depends what hardware you have already really.

What I would personally do is get a Wireless Router/Switch and use a 10/100 connection to a PCI Network card in the desktop, and then just get a single wireless PCMCIA card for the laptop.

I'm on NTL broadband at the mo, would prefer a package with a router/pci/pcmcia so I could move the setup from house to house if neccessary

D-Link Wireless Card

D-Link Router

£93 for the pair.

Then add a PCI NIC £10 MAX, and a Cat 5 cable from the router to your PC (couple of quid)

Job done.
