Any decent 4x branded disk should do you ok. I've not had a prob yet.

As for +r or -r, depends on the format supported by the DVD player you want to view them on..........

You don't know how lucky you are the Bulkpaq 'tangos' were out of stock !!
They are undoubtedly the worst disk available, closely followed by Datawrite reds.

If it's a film you're going to want to watch a year down the line, avoid Princo dye and pay the extra few pence for a Ritek disk.
You can tell a Ritek by the dark purple Azo dye they use.

The Datawrite overprints are a good buy if you can still get them, at about £1.19 each.
The new Datasafe labeled whitetops are the best disk i've used in a long time. Expect to pay £1.25-30 per disk.
The unbranded white-top Riteks are also an excellent disk curerntly available, at £1.08 in a cake tub of 25 from SVP

You get what you pay for.

I've used the Datawrite Reds quite happily in my Pioneer 106 at 4x. Can write discs that play in my X-Box or PS2 without any issues. The Bigpockets.co.uk own brand also seem to write quite happily at 4x and also read in the X-Box and PS2.
