Ahhhh.. That's the trick.... I'll mail you.

and emulator stuff will it run pc versions of emulators or are there special xbox versions?
You need XBOX versions. The only one I have is for the PlayStation. A bit of hunting should find others.

Acutally I can't mail you as you don't have an e-mail address...

There used to be a link on the Xbox-scene forum on where to download these from, but it's not there now. I can post you the ISO files on on CD. You will need to burn these onto CD-RW for them to work on the X-Box. You will also need the BIOS files for the chip. Do you have these?

Mail me off line...

you can chip the XBox yourself - it's easy to do.

Then you'll be able to play backup software, multiregion DVDS, and play games from the hard drive, or install a bigger hard drive.

Can't say how on here, because it's classed as dodgy.

Is your XBOX out of warrantee? If not, I'd wait until it is. Also, do you want to use Xbox Live! ? A chipped XBox will not be welcome on the Live! network - it'll be banned.

Dont worry too much about Xbox live.

You can still play on it with most chips but need to fit a switch to disable it to load your standard Xbox dashboard.

Also if you upgraded the HDD you will need to lock it, do an internet search for details. There are a few good sites about to tell you how to do this.

Thumbs up

I chipped my XBox and put in a bigger hard drive, its quite easy.

I would reccomend
http://www.worldxbox.co.uk/ Xbox forum
http://www.baldbouncer.co.uk/ Place to buy a chip

Read the forum and get an idea of what you are doing. Only thing you will strugle to find is a link to download the dashboard to use features of the chip. Search off google will find this!

You need to burn them onto a DVD or CD-RW (not CD-Rs) fist. You can make a boot disk with the dashboard files on. You can also FTP them across providing the boot disk is set with a static IP or you plug it into a LAN with a DHCP server. See the xbox-scene site above for more info.

If you are installing a new HDD I would strongly suggest the Slayer v2 auto installer.

Let me know what you want to do specificlly and I'll try to help.

That's why I never bothered about using the exploits. It's just too complicated (for me anyway ).

Best thing is to get yourself a chip and new HDD. Then use the Slayers Auto Installer to congif your new drive. This has the multiregion DVd player with it as well as some other good Apps.

If you need any help e-mail me.

I can't see anything wrong with posting links/instructions on how to do this - there are legitimate reasons to do so, and fair use laws etc. BTW, this will *all* change if the EU ever implement their plans for the Super-DCMA that they're seriously considering...

Post away, just keep the reasons for modding legal - after all, that's all we want

Edit anything if you think it's go too far...

Hobo,

New HDD means you don't have to worry about messing up your original. It also means you have a lot more space for your backups, which you ran run directly off the HDD, as well as emulators and their game files. You can also store movies (not DVDs directly), but I've not bothers about that at the moment. I mainly use it for games. You don't need to have a new HDD, I just think it's safer.

It's not hard to swap the HDD. You'll have to take it out anyway to fit the chip. You will need to copy some files from the original first (the original C: partition (just for safty) and your game saves in the E: partition), then copy the E: back once your new drive in is and setup.

Like I said, I used the Slayers Auto Installer which was great. If you need this or anything else, just let me know..

i dont really understand this - so can someone explain.

If i get a new HDD i will be able to store games on it and play DVD's from any region - is this right?

If this is so how would you copy a game onto it - its not a pc - does a menu come up on screen or something?

In that case, you don't need a new HDD. You just need to be very careful when changing anything on the original. You still need to back it up though, just in case.

You can either have the Evo-X dashboard (if that's the one you want) to run from a boot disk, or copy it to your HDD.

You will need a boot disk first anyway to allow you to FTP to your XBOX and copy over the C: and E: to your PC as a backup. Once in, you can copy the Apps yourself to the E:. The Slayers Installer also allows you to add these Apps automatically on an original HDD.

So you have the choice of doing yourself or let the instaler do it. It's upto you which method you choose.

Correct. You can play the game directly from the HDD. You will need the DVD player installing as well though.

If this is so how would you copy a game onto it - its not a pc - does a menu come up on screen or something?
You can do it two ways...

1. Connect your XBOX to your PC, FTP files from the DVD drive (D: ) onto your PC, then FTP them back to your game directoy on the XBOX.

2. Use the HDDLoader App to copy the files directly from the DVD drive to the XBOX HDD. This App in included in the Slayers Installer. this is what I have.

For both ways, the games should be acccessed via the Evo-X menu (providing it's setup correctly).

Correct. You can set an IP address in Evo-X. You just need to FTP to it...
