Compaq Server Experts
#2
I'm not a Compaq expert by a looooong shot, but I don't think it is possible to use the 'update software and firware' control task to push out 3rd party software.
I did have a bit of a play with it and it is great for Compaq softpaqs etc but I failed to roll out anything else.
If anyone has done it I'd love to know how though.

If you use logon scripts, can't you write something into the script to check for the latest dat and if it ain't installed on the client, copy it automatically.I seem to remember doing something like this about 5-6 years ago in a previous job!!
Just a simple suggestion for you!!
Good luck

I use epo with 4000 pcs and 100+ intel servers
all I can say is
Just dont eval it if you cant afford it you will want it!
SMS, EPO, lots of things can do it..
Search for NAI and KIX or McAfee and Kix on google and you should find a logon script that will do it..
I know you can do it as I did it.. about 4 years ago..

Actually you can do this although it's not a supported option. There used to be a packaging tool that we used to make any piece of software look like a Softpaq. I remeber there being a debate as to whether we should launch it or not because it would conflict with the Altiris product set.
I'll have a look round the internal sites and see if I can find the utility.
