Why wont my Crucial CF work???

I have had an Ixus 400 digital camera for about 3 weeks. When I ot it I ordered a 256MB CF card from Crucial which has been fine until tonight.
Tonight my camera, old digital camera or memory card reader will detect it - I can't get any pictures off it or add any to it. I can't format it and it mucks up the camera (ie it is really slow and won't take pics) when I put it in.
Is it knackered? How is it knackered?

Bought a 128mb one for my Canon Ixus V3. Loads of problems with corrupted data. Read around and loads of people all over the world having problems with Canon and Crucial CF. Sent mine back for a full refund and got a Samsung one instead which has been fine. 7 day shop does good prices on CF.
