Question

I have just changed from BT ADSL to NTL. I have set up my BT e-mail accounts in MS Outlook to retrieve and send mail from the BT POP3 / SMTP mail servers using my NTL connection.

Receive - No problems
Send - No Go (blocked by administrator)

Any ideas chaps?

NTL accounts send / receive no problems at all.

This is also affecting a friend of mine who has just done the same.

Cheers

TONY

Fig's sending suggestion might not work - some ISPs will only relay for the domains they 'run' and reject mail for others.

Give it a try though.

Unless things changed in the latest round of server outages, it works on NTL Chris

With most ISPs you can only send via their servers when connected directly to their network. The main reason for this is to prevent spam.

Easiest way to fix this is to set the outgoing mail server to NTLs
so in effect you collect mail from your BT account, but send using the NTL account. Leave the email address as the BT one if you want mail for you to come via that address.
