Hi All,
I have experienced some wierd stuff with my pc tonight. It had been on for about 5 mins when an alert box appeared saying that an "instruction" had been received by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM to shut down and did a 1 minute count down. This did not happen in safe mode but then did happen again in safe mode with networking enabled.
So i unplugged the cable modem power, rebooted in normal mode and it was fine. Plugged cable modem power back in, enabled networking and the problem is back again. Now i have installed sygate personal firewall everything seems fine. Norton anti virus doesnt seem to pick anything up although the scan is only half way through as i type.
The other odd thing is at the same time my girlfriend was using her laptop on the other side of the room which is networked to the main pc which i was using and that did exactly the same thing. Anybody got any ideas?
