Might be a stupid question, but i've not had much backup experience. Just need to know if backup exec can backup to a DVD-R? Paranoid over HDD failure :EKK:

Wheres the cheapest place to buy a reasonably fast DVD writer?

SVP Communications do the Pioneer 106 (The oem version of the A06) for £129.It's a 4x dvd writer with 32x cd writing abilities too....
Have a look on the Veritas website for the answer to your other question. Not thought about using Ghost to backup the contents of your hard disk and save the image file onto dvd-r?? Or use something like Primo DVD to backup selected directories to dvd-r (What I use here in fact)

Good luck

Nick

if your worried over hd failure buy another hd and copy everything over to that, that way you have no problems as your main drive carries the load, my 2nd pc has saved my main drive many a time

I have a brand new Pioneer 105 (4 speed burner) you can have for £110.
Never been used.

If you buy a 106 there will no doubt be firmware issues as this is still a brand new drive, just IMHO
