My bro's PC has XP Pro on it and all has been working fine!
He has been moaning at me because some of his older games won’t run in XP. He had a 2nd hard disk in his PC which wasn't being used but was bit small so I put a bigger drive in and formatted that and installed Win ME onto it (with the XP drive disconnected) so he can now play his older games.
But the problem I now have is XP Will no longer load fully??? I have booted into XP since installing ME onto the new disk and it went in fine and I also noticed it detected the new disk, which I thought was fine. Now since the first re-boot it gets as far as displaying the blue XP logo screen, just before you enter your username/password, and just stops!
I have tried getting into safe mode but the same thing happens! Only thing I can think of is that it has some how screwed XP since detecting the new disk. Is it something to do with the other disk is also bootable?
Anyone know what the problem might be???

do a dual boot. but with 98SE rather than the devils child that is ME!
windows XP can trick programs into thinking its a different OS - it's called campatability mode - did you try that?

I am now about to take the second disk off to see what happens.
Isn't the campatability mode for running programs that dont work in XP? My problem is that I can't get into XP.

well I have taken off the 2nd disk (ME) and it still does not boot so I have also taken off the CD-ROM & CD-RW leaving the XP disk being the only one connected and it still doesn't boot fully into windows!!! great!
So why when installing ME on another disk (with XP disk disconnected) then reconnecting the XP drive once it's finished messed up the installation of the XP drive???? bloody windows, looks like I got to re-load the dam thing, unless anyone got any more ideas???
