Can any one reccomend a cd-r/cd-rw/dvd-rom combo drive that looks good in a shuttle xpc (i.e. not biege front panel).

Cheers

If your a bit handy why not use the facia that came with it (shuttle that is), drive can be recessed use a foam pad where eject button is et voila

The stealth idea would look if you have the skill / patience.

Alternatively, black might not look too bad

It's eeeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeee to do. Ideally if you have a dremel, some double sided foam fixing type tape, some little adhesive cork pads and about an hour of your time or poss less to do a spot on stealth job.

I got the foam sticky stuff and cork pads from homebase.

Cheers,

Nick

and a little video here um sorry its 4.5 meg i'm not used to converting movies

Drive is an LG DVD/CD-RW i removed tray front cover, went to homebase got a roll of selotape self adhesive fixer strip which i then cut to length of drive, cut tape length ways and stuck on on top of other on drive tray to give needed height.
Didn't bother putting anything under button area as it's curved outward and i thought (correctly ) it would be okay.
The original screws i hacksawed ends off and super clued into place, next job is to paint back of perpex so it maches up, making sure i mask off drive light holes

Ps Cheers to Nick for inspiration

Edit coz i forgot link to vid

Si, I'm not a big fan of your choice of toilet brush holder

Otherwise

The Alu versions must be a easier as they aren't transparent.

Cheers lads,

Yeh, i think the stealthing route will be the easiest. But the way i was going to do it was to remove the entire drive bezel, volume control & headphone socket, also leaving the aluminium plate on the back of the shuttle blanking plate (ie cut the ridges & screws off the back). But I didn't want to do this if i was eventually going to upgrade to a dvd rewriter. I suppose with the cd/dvd combos being so cheap it won't matter (I was genuinely shocked at the prices, the last time i bought a drive i paid £70 for a cd-rom!!).

Cheers
