I have an Xbox that has been modified and a 120 gig H/D is fitted and is all running fine. I have loaded about 15 games via the HDD loader and these all work just fine.

A mate has loaned me a H/D with loads of ISO images on and I need to load them. We have worked out how to extract the ISO to a directory (on my PC) then FTP all the files onto the Xbox.

When I try and play the game from the games option or go into HDD loader the games are unselectable ??

I tried copying them into differnt directories and all sorts, but can't get the games to run Is there a simple way of fixing this ? What file would I need to edit to point the xbox in the right direction.

On another note, surely there's an application out there, that will extract, then FTP all the files onto the Xbox H/D and edit all the files that need to be edited ?? Am I wanting to much here ?

Thanks Phill

Hello Phill,

I use XBOX ISO Transfer (XIT). It transfers the files from ISO files on-the-fly to the X-Box whilst also patching the media ID to make it work. Extracting and FTP'ing manually can be very hit and miss.

Highly recommended. Lots of other handy ISO tools here too.

By the way, are you using Evolution-X as your main dashboard ? I assume not as you are using HDD Loader ?

Phill Is using EVO X as a dashboard and then uses HDDLoader to load the games..

Iv tried to modify the EVO.ini file and the game appears in the menu but is red and you cannot select the game.. Not sure on why it does not work...

Any chance you can post up the evox.ini file for me ? Or email it over ?

Personally I wouldn't use HDDLoader. I stick to boXplorer for DVD to HDD rips and XIT for xISO to HDD stuff.

Are the games appearing as red in HDD Loader or under the Games section of the EvoX dash ?

Phill will have to send you the EVO.ini file as iv hot got a copy to hand.. Its on your desktop Phill...

The games are appearing red in the EVOx dash inder games. I dont understand why as iv copyied one of the other menu items to the games section and its just refeusing to work. It seams that it does not understand what to do..

No probs. The evox.ini file should have an entry like this under the Launch Menu section . . .

Section "Games"
{AutoAddItem "f:\games\"}

This will ensure that any folder in f:\games will automatically be picked up and will appear in the menu.

Question

Slight thread hi-jack but you chaps might know;
I have the same set up as Phill. I use HDD loader (cause it was part of the Slayer autoinstall) which works a treat. However, I've now filled up my 120Gb h/d and I was going to transfer a few games I don't play over to the PC (plenty storage available). But when I look in the games directory all the folders are named pxgame01 etc etc. How the flip do I find out which folder contains which game? I've managed to work out a few given the contents of the folder (mainly levels). Is there a file that contains the name of the game in the folder? Evox must retrieve the name from somewhere?

Cheers
Matt

Neanderthal - EvoX gets the game title from the default.xbe file Open it in a hex editor and find the title.

This should make it easier though

Neanderthal - No worries

babber - Sorry mate, been really busy over the weekend. Did you try adding the AutoAddItem line to the evox.oni file ? EvoulutionX will then look in all subfolders of your specified Games folder and automatically add anything it finds to the list. Also works for any other default.xbe

Babber - evox.ini is in your C:\ root directory and the default.xbe files are in the directories that you put your games.

An example from my Xbox is:

F:\games\driving\pgr\default.xbe - Project Gotham Racing file.

Yup thats it.

Edit the evox.ini file from the root of the C: drive on the xbox.

You current have this in your file . . .

Section "Games"
{Item "Dead Or Alive Beach Volleyball","e:\games\doa\default.xbe"
Underneath that add . . .

SortStart
AutoAddItem "f:\games\"
SortEnd

. . . that is if you games are all in subfolders of f:\games\

Everything is working fine apart from I have the HDD loader games on one menu and the ISO loaded game on another. Obviously I know where they all are, but I worried about the kids.

Is it easy to move the games around ?

If you use boXplorer (v.0.96 is the latest) you can move the folders under f:/games and they'll appear as normal with the rest.
Dunno if you already use it, but its basically a File Manager (Explorer) for X-Box.

Then change HDD Loader to dump its new folders under f:/games too.

Here you go

Just add it to your other apps and you're off. I tend to use this to copy my games to the HDD too. The only one that did't work straight off was Enter The Matrix, but a few tweaks sorted that

Its pretty simple to use, have a look at the readme.
