A mate's (same one as win98-->win2k upgrade) got an XDA and wants to send and receive email from his freeserve account. He can receive ok but can't send. Does he use the smtp server at freeserve or O2's? Or is it something else?

Ta muchly

Typically ISPs disallow senting of e-mail (SMTP) via their servers unless the IP address you are using is one of theirs. This is done to

If he is using GPRS on O2 he'll need to use O2s ISP mail server.
