Playstation 2 Network Adapter Setup

I am running what I consider to be a very simple home network with Windows XP, ZoneAlarm internet connection sharing, and a switch. I am connected with ADSL through Pipex.
I cannot for the life of me get the Playstation 2 network adapter to connect. I can see that the port it is attached to on the switch is active but no matter what settings I put in I cannot get it to work. Has anyone managed to configure it to work yet?
