Just installed XP Pro and I noticed that Microsoft had set up all my devices with new XP compatible drivers.

However I am having a problem with my hauppauge tv pci card.
It works fine on its own but if I have it as a background task and say I am writing an email or browsing the internet, the tv picture sort of pauses while another process is going on. So say every character I type on this thread interrupts the picture so that the picture jumps and misses out frames. There is nothing wrong with the sound at all. I have updated to the latest xp drivers for my nvidia GForce 2 GTS graphics card, I have tried out all the drivers from hauppauge for XP but no success.

Now with windows 98SE that I had on my machine before installing XP Pro, I could watch a perfect tv picture on the screen while undertaking other tasks on the pc. Nothing seemed to interrupt the picture at all.

I have checked the IRQ assignments and everything is on IRQ 9, the tv audio, the tv video, the graphics card, my network card, the sound card etc. However I am sure that this was the case with Windows 98SE.

Would it be anything to do with the Via 4 in 1 drivers? However it looks like I am stuck with what Microsoft installed with XP Pro, as my board is an Asus A7V and I cannot find any XP via 4 in 1 drivers anywhere else.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance...

I have a Hauppage TV card in XP pro - works just fine & dandy.

You are using the Hauppage XP drivers off their website....???

Yes I was having problems with the XP supplied drivers for the tv card. So I switched to the latest XP ones on the Hauppauge site. The problem still remains.
What version of drivers are you using?

I have one at home too and it works fine with Win XP.Have you tried to switch the hauppage into Primary overlay mode or whatever it's called? (I don't know exactly but drop me a mail and I can confirm on my home PC as and when)

Cheers

Cheers Nick, Yes I have tried all the options on the primary panel, including the one specific to XP!

I have found some new via 4 in 1 drivers. I might try installing them later tonight.

I do know that after doing the tests on pcpitstop.com, the graphics part gets a very low mark compared to the marks I got when I was running Windows 98.

Anyone an expert in via 4 in 1 drivers? From what I have read, there is a driver in there that deals with the graphic processing side of things.

Have a look here for what the Via 4 in 1 driver includes.
You can then get the latest drivers here
They're upto v4.47 now.....

Good luck

Nick
