Just been in to Game and the bloke tells me its broadband only and must be either, bt, blueyonder or ntl!!!! and that adsl wont work!
I was like you are joking and he says i'm best to check the Sony site. I think too fooking right I am cos I can't believe adsl wont work
Anyway just checked the Sony site and it says adsl or broadband as long as its 512+. Last time I ever listen to the planks in Game.
Has anyone bought the hardware and connected and played online yet and is it worth the expenditure?
Also will my backup copies work or will they be rejected online and i'll be forced to use the original disc?
Seriously tempted to do it but want to know if enough games are live yet and whether many people are online.
Any advice appreciated, cheers

I seen in a magazine recently that you can buy a box of tricks, that will allow you to connect your PS2 to your pc adsl line.
Ill try to find out what its called..

Think I saw SOCOM and Twisted Metal online out today. Might think about getting one when GT4 arrives :-)
You can pick up ADSL modem/routers quite cheap these days (got mine on eBay about 6 months ago fo 90 quid, cheaper now). A lot of them come with 4 port hub as well, so you just plug the network adaptor into that. If you've only got 1 port on your modem/router you can get a cheap hub to give you more ports.
From what I've read you can use WiFi gear as well, no wires but it's damn pricey.

Cheers guys, i got all the gear already and using pipex adsl for the last 15 months and internet connection sharing via a 10 port hub.
Just wanted to know if anyone had tried it and what they thought of it and if they had had any technical problems.
The box of tricks is for sale in game for about 30 notes, its just a network card and drivers cd basically. All u do is plug it in to the hub with a bit of cat5, configure the ps2 for ip address etc and wham bam thank you mam its on your network
allegedly anyway
Might just get it anyway and see for myself what its like, if its sh!te it can only get better!
And I can't wait for GT4 to come out. Also if they bring out ISS soccer for on line multiplayer i wont ever get off the bloody thing

They had the network adaptors in HMV on Saturday for £29.99.
Presumably you just plug that in, then plug a modem in the back, then into your ADSL line.
I'm also on Pipex, but going to wait for a while - wonder if theres any monthly charges with anyone?

Bravo - can you plug it straight into the microfilter then or not?
I have a microfilter very near the PS2 for the downstairs phone line.
Would be great if I can just route some cat5 from the back of the network adaptor to the filter - thought you might have to have a modem/router in between?

Got a home network.
4 Port Router
1 PC (Mine on the 2nd Floor)
2 PC's on the 1st floor + router.
The router is 20m or so from my room.Got a cable at the moment but i want 2 net connections.
Do i
a) buy another huge cable and use the last port?
b) can i buy one from wall plugs, and then plug both connections into that. But would i need 2 lines or wire going to that or could i share one somehow?
If you dont understand ill do a diagram
Cheers Si

Sammy you need a 512k+ internet connection, either broadband or adsl. Then you need to have somewhere to connect your ps2 into to access that conection. I use a hub as I have several pcs using internet connection sharing which all access the internet through the one pc with the adsl modem on it.
The simpliest way would be to connect the ps2 into a hub or router that is connected to your pc with your internet connection on it, or use a cross over cable and plug it straight into the back of the pc's network card.
The ps2 network adapter is on sale in game for £30. You connect that to the pc via cat5 cable (standard network cable used in majority of modern offices)
More info can be had here m8

Any questions m8 just ask

Pretty much m8, I'd use a hub and not a router tho as hubs don't need configuring.
Basically I'd have it like this:-
adsl modem -> pc -> hub -> cat5 cables running off to all the other devices including ps2 that need internet access, with all devices needing an ip address etc.
That link above has a link on it that shows u various diagrams and ways to connect your ps2 to your internet connection.
Not many games out yet, I have socom and Midnight club 2 waiting for me when i get home tonight to paly and see what they are like before I go online with them.
I also have nba 2003 live but have not seen this advertised on any site as being a live game yet so doesnt look as tho they have a server up and running for that yet
GT4 and ISS will be the ones for me, I will never leave my flat, EVER!
