Hi peeps,

Just wondering if anyone here regularly visits liquidation auctions as im interested in going to one and buying some well priced kit. I realise a lot of them are full of numpties who don't know there **** from their elbow in computer terms that buy any old crap.

Firstly, where is there a good one in the north west and secondly what type of kit can you get and at what price, ie is it worth going if you have 2.5 k in your pocket to buy stuff with or is it better kept in the old pocket?

Any views, advice greatly appreciated.

i used to go to one regularly on the south coast and for computer stuff it was pants tbh.

most of the stuff was beind sold by inland revenue or hm customs and excise for non payments, and they had just gone in and taken it out usually leaving parts behind and not having a clue as to what they were taking.

a friend thought he had bought a job lot of hewlett packard scanners to sell only to get home for me to inform him they were u/w scsi versions, he tried selling them in papers and boot sales for £3 each and didnt sell any.

If you know what your looking at and make sure its the right thing in the box! (some of the hp's above did say usb, but none were) you should be ok, but lots of the people i saw there would go mad bidding on pc stuff unless it was beond there comprehension like tape drives or ups.
