Question

how do you do this?

I've just rebuilt my work PC with XP Pro and have a problem with the display driver.

I have installed the NVIDIA Quadro 2 Pro driver, but on boot up, I get to the XP Pro splash screen with the moving bar and then the screen turns itself off, the PC is booted up still, so windows is running, but obviously I can't see what I'm doing, and hence, cannot roll back the driver.

How can I boot up in safe mode so I can fix the display driver?

I've tried pressing F8 and F2, but this does nothing.

Thanks

F8 is actually the correct main key for triggering the XP boot menu, Basically wait until the machine is on the verge of finshing BIOS boot, as in where the main bios screen flicks to the half page of hardware info for a sec (In a lot of machines cases anyway) frantically press f8 whilst it is jumping to that info screen and do that for a few seconds and you really should get the boot menu up.

Don't use Safe mode, use VGA mode first, as it loads less of the custom display driver files. If still no load, then try safe mode.

Cheers,

Nick
