We have a Compaq Proliant 3000 Rackmount server, has been stored in our 'old kit' storeroom for about 18 months.

Someone has decided they need some old data off it. So plugged it all in. The fans all start but it doesnt POST. No VGA, & the LCD info panel doesnt show any faults (in fact it just says compaq & the firmware version.

I've checked all the bleeding obvious, ie ram, processors etc

Any clues before we have to call in the experts!

Dual P2 333, 512Mb, 3x4.3Gb RAID, redundant PSU's

if you swapped the ram out, tested the processor and disconnected all scsi devices then it sounds bad! could be the board that has gone. Is there a clear cmos option on the board, usually a jumper you move whilst the machine is off then back again whilst still off and it resets all cmos data to the default.

In my official capacity, it's dead. I assume you've tried to boot it from floppy/CD and nothing happens? Is there any way you could put the drives and array controller into another server?

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?

they normally spin the fans and light the lcd if they are switched off check the power switch connections..

remove the psu's and re-seat them.. try powering up all psu's..
