Question

Need a quick fix for this. How do I stop TS clients (running on laptops) from seeing the shutdown option when pressing CTRL-ALT-END? The clients have been set up using the same login as for the laptops. Seemd to make sense when I did it but I'm not convinced now. I have tried altering the default Group Policy but that removes the shutdown option from the workstation login screen, I don't want that.

Would I be better creating a new user to be used fot th eTS sessions, putting it into a new OU and restricting shutdowns in that OU's GP?

Is there a better way?

Ta muchly

I didn't think that "Shutdown" appeared if you're not an Admin level user on the server?

Unless I am setting up TS incorrectly, shutdown is an option even for users with pleb status

David
Thanks for that. My first attempt was to remove shutdown from the default GP for the all users. Unsurprisingly this removed shutdown for all users I have since created another OU off the main OU, added a new user for TS sessions and restricted this OU's GP. Seems to work.

dont forget if you set the Group Policy on the Terminal Servers themselves, enable the Loop Back Processing too

Ours is but a small office (about 20 PCS) and at the moment we have one server acting as both DC and TS server. Its far from ideal but hey, I have to make do.

This loopback feature sounds good, is there a way of implementing something similar with the setup I've got?

cheers
